Collaboration

I recently discovered a wonderful site deviantart.com.

I have to confess that I've spent many hours in just the last few days exploring the endless works of art on the site, of course the majority of my time is looking at what photography is out there. Apart from being really impressed with some of the work that's being created around the world, I'm also thrilled by the hugely positive response to my gallery of some 50ish images that I've posted.

However the truly exciting news is that a digital artist that I only know as Jim who is tremendously skilled in photoshop contacted me by listing one of my photos as one of his favorites on the site. After a few emails back and forth, I sent Jim two images that he selected from my gallery -- my first collaborative effort with another artist. Here are the results. I couldn't be more thrilled. I'm looking forward to working with him more in the future.

Photo Shoot with Mat

After first working together 3 years ago, Mat and I did a two-part shoot today; one on location at a hot tub; and the second at my studio. As you'll see from the following shots, the results were impressive as is the model.

Photo Shoot with Craig

After almost a year of online banter, Craig finally made his way from Lethbridge to Edmonton to do a photo shoot. I'm glad he did.

"Busted" garners more accolades

I am thrilled that my photo Busted continues to have remarkable success and has just been selected as one of the 200 images for the upcoming Erotic Signature book The World's Greatest Erotic Art of Today, Volume 3.

This photo, which features Daryn Grassick shot in Edmonton (2006), has also be selected as one of the 215 pieces from over 2,100 submissions worldwide to be included in the 2009 Seattle Erotic Arts Festival.

Busted was exhibited as part of the ArtUndressed Tour in 2008 and was seen in Miami, Montreal, and Berlin. The photo will also be shown again as part of the 2009 ArtUndressed Tour.

Photo Shoot with Alberto (Monterrey, Mexico)

Photo Shoot with Kris (Monterrey, Mexico)

I first met Kris last year when he was one of the men of Service 69, my friend Rodrigo's company. Kris was the manager of the office in Puebla. Since then he packed up and moved to Monterrey, worked hard on defining his physique, and is in university studying to become a lawyer. Fortunately he was able to free up a couple of hours to do this shoot.

Photo Shoot with Hugo (Puerto Vallarta, Mexico)

Spent a wonderful day, filled with lots of laughs, shooting Hugo, formerly of Guadalajara, who now resides in Vancouver with his equally handsome and sweet partner, Jerome -- both of whom I've had the pleasure to get to know over the past couple days here in Puerto Vallarta.

Aveda - The Collection Celebration

Once again my friend, Julia Richards, enlisted me to shoot more of her and 2 other stylists' work at the Aveda salon as part of their Collection Celebration. The shoot went well and the hair/fashion show was well attended.

The shot to the left is of Marilyn Deutscher, who I've photographed on several prior occasions, each time with resounding success -- she's a natural in front of the camera and ironically a natural behind it as well -- she's studying design at Grant MacEwan and excelling with her photography. I wish her the best (and wouldn't be surprised if we end up working together on something someday.)

Free at last!

Tonight I'm thrilled to remove my Bush Countdown Clock -- at last, that nightmare, George W. Bush's reign of terror is over!
And finally the United States has something to be proud of in electing Barack Obama as President of their very beleaguered country.

One More Reason to Own a Mac

From the Apple Homepage:
October 24, 2008
No on Prop 8
Apple is publicly opposing Proposition 8 and making a donation of $100,000 to the No on 8 campaign. Apple was among the first California companies to offer equal rights and benefits to our employees’ same-sex partners, and we strongly believe that a person’s fundamental rights — including the right to marry — should not be affected by their sexual orientation. Apple views this as a civil rights issue, rather than just a political issue, and is therefore speaking out publicly against Proposition 8.

I'm December

I just received correspondence from my former model and friend, Gregory Nalbone, requesting that I give permission for him to use three of my photographs (as he described "3 of my absolute favorites") in his upcoming 2009 calendar. Gregory is easily one of the most handsome, professional, and sweetest men I met in my years in NYC, to say nothing of being one of the most photographed.

You can check out his website at www.gregorynyc.com for a literal list of who's who in the world of photographers. Several of the shots we did together are in the "recent" gallery on his site.

When I found out that my photography would be featured for the month of December, of course I said YES!

Abstract Nudes 2008

Finally had some time to work on the lastest additions to my Abstract Nudes series. There is a good possibility that I will premiere this series at this year's Exposure Festival. There is discussion currently underway for me to do a solo show at 29 Armstrong. I love the venue/store so I'm very excited.

Here are a few of the images I'm considering for the exhibit, I'm very interested to see everyone's reaction -- please feel free to leave me a comment. I'd love to hear what you think.
