Photo shoot with Gregory Nalbone, NYC

Gregory in blue underwear, NYC, 2010

I celebrated a milestone birthday today with a photo shoot featuring one of NYC's most sought after models, Gregory Nalbone. To shoot Gregory really makes you a member of who's who in the homoerotic art world. Virtually every New York photographer and numerous international ones to have shot this incredibly handsome, sexy, man. And so many of the images are stunning thanx to Gregory's dedication, focus, and ability to understand exactly what the photographer wants/needs from him. He is a complete delight to work with and gives you images that very few models could deliver -- all in all, a perfect birthday gift to myself.

And here's the icing on the cake; a message from Gregory.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACKSON!!! It was so great to work with you again, and thank you for the amazing photos...i love them xoxox

Photo shoot with Johnathan, NYC

I was lucky enough to snag the ubersexy actor/model Johnathan Cedano for a photo shoot today. A sweet guy and good pal, we did a shoot probably 6 or 7 years ago. Johnathan continues to be as hot, if not hotter, than ever and the camera loves him. We shot up in my studio in Harlem and on the back stairs and walkway of my building.

Photo shoot with Rob

I met Rob from Calgary, last year at Edmonton's PRIDE celebrations. We talked about doing a shoot then but couldn't coordinate a time. When I found out he'd be returning again this year, we set up a session. This is the result. The camera loves Rob. We've agreed to do a follow-up shoot because just before he came over to my studio, he did an all-time no no and sat outside with friends leaving him with an uneven tan, distinct tanlines and a sunburn (as you can see in several of the shots). Note to self: always remind models not to suntan or shave (especially in sensitive places) for 24 hours prior a photo shoot. I really do look forward though to working with this handsome and personable man again.

2010 Seattle Erotic Arts Festival

Once again, I have submitted work to the Seattle Erotic Arts Festival. I have been successful each time for the past five years in having been selected to exhibit my photography as part of this international group show. Here are the images I entered:

Photo Shoot with Buck Angel

After several years of corresponding, we were finally able to do this long-awaited shoot, thanks in part to the Edmonton Exposure Festival for bringing us together. And truth to tell, the one photo shoot actually turned into three shoots: one at my studio, one in the bathhouse hallways and one of the art installations and then one in the bathhouse showers. All of which you can see here - a testament to how truly photogenic Buck Angel is. In addition to being a great model, Buck became a good friend. There is a distinct possibly that we may collaborate on creating his next calendar. More on that as it develops. One thing is certain in my mind, Buck and I will definitely shoot again.

Imaging Salon with Buck Angel

Buck Angel -- a man that stands out in a crowd!

The Imaging Salon at The ARTery was one of those events presented by the Exposure Festival that was so perfect, so rewarding, so intimate, and so damn much fun. It made me proud to be part of the Festival and secretly I was thrilled that I had suggested this event to the programming committee.

Some of the shots with Buck and Cindy Baker in her adapted mascot costume were hilarious and yet seemed to fit the tone of the afternoon.

I was pleased to finally get the notice that The World's Greatest Erotic Art of Today - Volume 3 which contains my photograph "Busted" is now available for pre-order. I was also very pleased to see that that they used a thumbnail of my image (top row second from the right) on the home page of the purchase page. If you are interested in a copy there is a 20% discount until September 30, 2009 (just click on the word purchase above).

And for anyone that might be interested in seeing more of my work, one of my photographs is on the cover (and more of my work has been featured inside) of Gay City - Volume 2 which you can also order online now.

Lee and his new car

I had a rather fun opportunity to do a quick shoot with Lee (who I photographed in the studio last year) and his new car. Needless to say the only location that seemed even remotely apropos was a local cemetery.

Photo Shoot with Travis

Travis, my good pal from Calgary, and I had talked about doing a photo shoot for several years and finally got to do it today. As you can see the portraits turned out beautifully and Travis, with those gorgeous blue eyes and full lips, couldn't help but make the shots steamy and sexy as hell. I was genuinely touched at how moved (and pleased) Travis was with the photos. It makes me love doing photography all the more.

2009 Edmonton Pride Parade and Celebration

This year's PRIDE Parade and Celebration on the Square in Edmonton were by far the best I've seen, since moving back to Edmonton in 2005. The crowd at 12,000 was double last year's and happily, those in attendance seemed to have a lot more heart and spirit.

Some of the photos that I took have already appeared in the national edition of Xtra! and more will be published in the July issue of Canada's Outlooks Magazine.

Gay City: Volume Two

untitled
model: blue
new york cIty
2007

My trip to Seattle for the Seattle Erotic Arts Festival was a great thing on several levels. Not only was it fun to be part of such a great exhibit/festival, but I got to do a couple of local photo shoots, and most importantly, I met a few wonderful artists whom I now call friends. One of the most most outstanding was Vincent Kovar, a very gracious host who took me all over the city while I was there and a talented book/magazine editor. Our association has led to his using one of my new abstract nude series photos as the cover of a book he's editing entitled Gay City: Volume Two published out of Seattle, Washington. In addition several more of the series and some of my older work will be featured inside the book too. And to top it all off the proceeds of the book will be donated for testing and prevention of HIV - a cause I wholeheartedly support. I can't thank Vincent enough! He is a very generous and supportive friend whom I really enjoyed getting to know during my visit. If you are interested in purchasing a copy of Voume One you can click here. I will post a new link once Volume Two is available.
